Eddie, Anna, and Rachel looking eager to travel as they sit in Birmingham, Alabama. We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. It's a small airport and doesn't take long to get to the terminal. Our flight wasn't leaving until 10:30 a.m.

Everyone from our family was there with the exception of Randy and his family who lived the closest to Houston. Their flight had been delayed. Mom and Carole started praying that our flight would be delayed so that the others wouldn't miss it. I believe that they prayed a little too hard. Due to bad weather in Houston, our flight, which was originally scheduled to leave at 2:30 p.m., didn't until after 8:30 p.m.! Needless to say, all of our group were there, patiently waiting.
Because of the delay in Houston, we missed our connecting flight to Paris in Newark. It was after midnight and the airline said we were on our own! It was a miracle of God that we were able to get two rooms (a long story) and we put 11 women in one and 7 men in the other. We had no luggage or anything other than what we were carrying. We looked like a bunch of refugees, but we didn't care. At that point we were so tired, sleeping 4 to a bed or on the floor wasn't an issue!
