"You Is What You Eats"

It's amazing what you can learn while waiting in a doctor's waiting room to see a doctor! We spent almost 3 hours waiting to see the Eye Doctor this morning and it was interesting what we heard.

There was one elderly gentleman who talk the entire time we were there. His audience was another eldery man who I know felt like saying, "WOULD YOU PLEASE BE QUIET?" He weighed at least 350 - 400 pounds and kept telling the other man, "You Is What You Eats!" He went off on eggs and cheese and how bad they were for the human body. (I eat 2 eggs each morning and have lost over 60 pounds!) He then proceeded to talk about high blood pressure. He said that if you go off "that" blood pressure medicine, you'll die. He told about many of his friends who had gone off of it and reported, "They're DEAD!" He spoke as one with authority and then I found out that he learned most of his information from the Discovery Channel.

I was relieved when they moved us to another waiting room. We then got to hear the "story" of an elderly woman from Georgia. She said that she had been married to a man who was "mean as a snake." They had two children and he beat her and knocked her around. She got to feeling very sick and decided to leave and take her children to her mother's. She heard that her estranged husband had told their neighbors that she was dying of leukemia and had gone to stay with her mother. She went to the doctor and he told her that she was suffering from Arsenic Poisoning.

Everyone has a story and some are amazing! Some people are more than eager to open up and tell their story while others are more reserved and you have to earn the privilege to hear it. One day I'm going to write a book about the stories of people's lives.

We finally were able to see the doctor and he wants us to return Monday for a follow-up visit. Maybe we'll hear some more "stories!"
