Family Trip - Day 1 & 2
Greetings from Newark, New Jersey! We are on a family vacation to France. There are 18 of us, from the Larpenter Clan, and we are on our way to Paris. We've just not gotten there yet!
We all met in Houston, Texas yesterday with plans to leave on a 2:30 p.m. flight. Due to severe weather our plan was delayed until after 8:00 p.m. which meant we missed our flight from Newark to Paris last night.
We got to Newark around midnight and were not able to find any motel rooms. Finally my sister located a Hampton Inn that had TWO rooms available. When we got here (a story in itself) they said that they didn't have any rooms! At that point, Carole started crying. Bless her heart! Organizing a trip for 18 people is not an easy job! The tears must have brought out the compassionate side in the hotel employees because they located 2 rooms and made sure that we had plenty of towels, soap, toothbrushes, paste, and deoderant. All our luggage is somewhere between here and Paris!!
We looked like a bunch of refugees fitting into two rooms. The guys took one and the 11 girls took the other. We were on the floor and filling the beds. I felt like the Darling Boys on Andy Griffith. We'd give a signal so that we would all turn over at the same time!!!
I've had a lot of difficulty due to the fact that my name on the Passport and Driver's License says Elizabeth Larpenter Shurbutt and my ticket reservation (made by sister) says Mary E Shurbutt. So far, the Lord has worked miracles. I'm trusting that he will continue to do so we head back to the airport tonight to catch a 8:00 p.m. flight to Paris. Please help me pray!!! We've learned a hard lesson with that issue!!
We are going to try to fit in a little sight-seeing before heading to the airport. We are enjoying just being together as a family!!!
I will try to update my blog as time allows!!
Beth
