I'm So Tired Of . . .

I’m so tired of people not taking responsibility for their own choices and actions! Just this week, we heard about a gay congressman who was caught in some inappropriate behavior with under-aged congressional pages. He responded to the charges by blaming (in a round about manner) the fact that he had been molested as a child.

Today, after having buried 5 children of their community, the Amish are looking at burying number six as she nears death. The media has spent most of the time trying to find a reason that would make a truck driver go into the school of innocent, precious girls and execute them. There just has to be something to blame.

Closer to home, we are all guilty of placing blame for our own poor choices and lack of wisdom on someone or something else. We don’t like admitting our own frailties so we point out the short comings and failures of others in an attempt to take the spotlight off our own messes.

The sad thing about not taking ownership for our own choices is that we constantly live in a state of denial or in a dream world where we convince ourselves that we are justified for our actions. Another tragedy is we are the big losers because we cannot grow or become better people when we won’t admit the truth about our own choices.

We all have choices to make that will determine where we will be in ten years, twenty-five years and even more sobering, for eternity. The bottom line is that all my choices are either leading me closer to eternal life or toward eternal death. Not only do my choices determine my destination, they have a great impact of other’s destinations!

What will we do? Will we continue to blame or will we face the truth and admit that we may have made a bad choice and want to change it into something good? When we get to that point, God can work miracles in our lives!

Will the blame game continue? Yes, as long as there is sin in this world, people will blame others instead standing up and taking responsibility for their own actions. We won't be able to stop it but we can keep it from happening in our own lives. I confess!! It's my fault!! I was wrong!! Please forgive me! Help me choose the better way!! Thank you!!
