The Mind of Christ

Daily I pray for the Mind of Christ, and the more damage I see so-called "Believers" do, the more I'm convinced that we ALL need to have the Mind of Christ.
My pastor told me a story of another minister he had read in a book. I won't mention the name of the pastor because some of you may know those involved in this event. The pastor took a new church and hadn't been there long when he heard that one of the members had been spreading gossip and lies about him. He knew they were unfounded and damaging to him so he decided to drive out and visit the man who was spreading the untruths. When he pulled in front of the house he saw the man sitting on the front porch in his rocking chair. The pastor approached the man and asked him if he'd been spreading the gossip and untruths about him and the man admitted that he had. What happens next takes the mind and grace of Christ. The pastor walked over to the man's chair, knelt down beside him and said, "If you've been saying all these things, I need you to pray for me."
Immediately the guilty man started crying and asked the pastor for forgiveness. He confessed that he had nothing against the pastor but against the precious one. From that point on, the man became the pastor's greatest supporter and worker in the church.
It hurts me to see innocent people hurt by the lies of others. As a believer with the Mind of Christ, I assume the best about people. Instead of taking a bitter, "get-back" attitude when I'm wronged, I pray for the person and try to love them to Jesus.
I've learned that in my few years on this earth that the ones who do the least work are the ones who complain the loudest and cause the most problems.
I will never understand all that people say and do. I'm about to the point of even trying! (grin) I will keep loving, praying, and encouraging because I know the day is coming, sooner than we realize, where we will ALL stand before our Creator and listen to the account of our life. Oh how I want to hear the words, "Well done thou good, and faithful servant!"

Life is Precious and God is Good!!

I can't believe that it's almost been a week since I've posted on my Blog. It has been an extremely busy week and I have lived in the fast lane of life, it seems. The only problem is that I'm being passed by everyone! (grin) Eddie, my husband, has been suffering with his left shoulder for years. The pain has seem to intensified the last several months so he got an appointment with a Sports Medicine doctor in Birmingham. Within a month of seeing the doctor that had Eddie scheduled for surgery, which happened yesterday. The day before surgery, Eddie got to thinking about the surgery and the risks that go along with any surgery that requires one being put under. He thought that if Thursday could be his last day on earth, he didn't want to spend it at work but rather, he wanted to spend it with his family. He called me and said that he'd be home at 9 a.m. so I quickly canceled some piano lessons and we took out for the day, as a family. Our first stop was at Ryan...

Light-bulb Moment . . .

Today, I had a light bulb moment, which is surprising.  (The older I get the less frequent they become!)  I realized that I'm becoming like my late grandmother, Mary Melvina Stewart Matthews, and it was the first time that had dawned on me.  I know I'm a lot like my mom but had never really seen a lot of my grandmother in myself.  It's not a bad thing, but I had to warn Eddie who is just coming to terms with my becoming like my mother!  (grin) My grandmother, for those of you who knew her, was a saint!  There was not a person she did not like, and she had a true servant's heart.  She was one of the most unique people I've ever known and saw things in ways that most people didn't see them. What triggered my "moment" was the story about "Fred, my grandmother's  electronic clock.  "Fred" was an innovator of his time.  He was a simple looking, 2.5" cube that could be programmed to audibly give the time and date on the hour...
